Are You Gunna Order Anytin?
I was watching the olympics at the airport today… sitting in this little ‘bar’ / ‘restaurant’ in the middle of the LAX terminal. I think it was water polo, and we were tied with the Netherlands. I was eating McDonalds food, and not too happy about my lack of options. I’m amazed with the lack of food joints in this airport.
So while I was sitting there ‘enjoying’ my meal… this woman steps right in front of my view of the TV, and asks… ‘Are you gunna order anytin?’. From what I could make out of what she was saying… apparently the area that I was sitting in was for customers only. I looked around me… there were about 20 seats open, and it was 10am. At a bar. That doesn’t serve breakfast.
My first thought, and I didn’t actually say this to her… was that I would have considered ordering a drink before I boarded right up until the point when she came up to me that way. In fact… I’m out here on a fairly regular basis… and I can be pretty confident in saying that I probably won’t be getting anything there ever.
I can totally understand protecting the valuable real estate in your shop and making sure that it’s available for paying customers, but honestly there were no signs, and I had no idea that the area was reserved for patrons, else I would not have sat there to begin with.
