Bank of America Online

So for the last several weeks, I’ve been trying to get access to my BOA banking / credit card information online. The main hitch has been that last year we opened an emergency checking account with BOA for Melissa’s family, and never activated our debit cards. See, in order to access online banking for my [...]

I got this in several boxes and bubble wrap from a friend who works for a refurb warehouse. It was pretty much like putting together a puzzle. It is [...]

Rising City, NE

A fellow ‘Rising’ from the Nashville Area Wine Enthusiast Meetup Group that we’re a part of told me about this place today. A little postage stamp of a town in the middle of nowhere, but it’s got our namesake! A quick look around at the school system, and the white pages, reveals all of 2 [...]

nuts.

Proof yet again that i get my best material from my family… my dad was inspired to tell me about these when he read about Güenther’s surgery. The first thing my wife asked about them? “Where do they put them?” … wow… I couldn’t ask for better writers.

if diets were religions

my dad would be a hindu. he has successfully found salvation (and has frequently lost weight) in just about all of them. he even says ‘any diet can work as long as you stick to it’. if that’s not Dharma, i don’t know what is.
in his time as a radio announcer, i even heard him [...]

dog-gone it!

Güenther is going in for surgery tomorrow to get neutered. i honestly don’t know how to feel about this, but everyone around us seems to say that it is a good decision. While we never intended on breeding him, and we understand all of the health reasons and such for doing this… i still can’t [...]

Thermos Pump Pot

ok… we love this thing. we made coffee at 6:30pm yesterday, brought it to the new year’s party, and brought it back to the house later that evening where it sat on our counter until just now. more than 24 hours later, the coffee is still warm! amazing.
we got it at bed bath and beyond [...]

Penfolds Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz 2004

Our friend Matt turned us on to Penfolds, a great Australian winemaker. This shiraz is a cool climate grape grown in Coonawarra South Australia since 1962. Penfolds has been making wine since 1844, and we’ve never been disappointed with anything we’ve gotten from them. Not a bad wine at all for $20.
We got this wine [...]

we had just gotten into kayaking before winter hit… and only got a couple of chances to take the boats out. we spent some time at the Buffalo River and managed to put in twice at Crazy Horse, where we camped. it was just so relaxing out there on the water!

this next year i’m [...]
