2006 Beringer White Zinfandel & Chardonnay Blend
January 9th, 2008 • Related • Filed Under

This wine is pretty much a staple in our house, as it’s cheap (about $8 a bottle), it’s easy to find in any wine shop, and anytime we’ve bought it, it’s already been chilled for us. the first year we had this wine was 2002, and it was actually a light pink blush. Later blends have been more of a light red color. Melissa is more of a sweet wine girl, so she’s always liked this wine, with it’s strawberry and citrus flavor. The aroma is a bit musky to me… but still fruity. We will usually drink this alone as a desert, or with chicken or fish.

I am trying to find out how much sugar is in this wine. What is the sugar content?

i’m not sure, as the bottle says nothing… and neither does the Beringer site. it is very sweet though, so i’d imagine that the residual sugars are pretty high. most white zins are going to fall in that realm. if you’re looking for sweet (like syrup / candy) … i’d go for a good peach muscat like the Mendelson Vineyards Mendocino Muscat Canelli:

you could almost drizzle it on ice cream it’s so sinful!
if you’re a diabetic and you’re looking for something… first off, i’d stick with the reds…they are much lower in sugar and better for you overall, but there are a few organic wines that are sugar free… most notably would be from a little 120 year old Uruguayan vineyard called ‘De La Cruz’. they have Merlot, Cab Sav, and Pinot Noir available… and if you are an organic kind of guy, you’d be proud to know that they do use all natural methods in their vineyards and process.
