Murfreesboro Athletic Club
the gym melissa and i have a membership with makes it really easy on folks. they are open 24 hours, and they have a ‘cardio theater’ where they play movies while you bike, run, or eliptic? i hate those eliptical machines. i just don’t have the coordination for them… and the treadmill hurts my knees, so i always wind up on the stationary bike. the cardio theater is great, especially if there is a good movie on… you forget that you’re even in there. problem is, my workout plan requires that i actually think about what i’m doing, how i’m feeling while i’m working out, and i’m supposed to record it blow by blow… minute by minute for 20 minutes. imagine me on a stationary bike in the dark… and i have no-where to put my bloody clipboard and pencil! this gym is definitely not the Y. people don’t go there to carry clipboards around. honestly, with the way that folks dress there… i don’t know if anyone actually goes there to work out!
what-ever happened to sweat pants and a t-shirt?
the place also has TVs with DVD players on almost all of the non-cardio theater aerobic machines. you plug your headphones in… and you’re watching CNN or your own dvd.
i’m honestly not all that impressed with the staff there… most of them seem like they are part time kids from the local university, just there to get free memberships and meet other ‘healthy’ people… if you know what i’m sayun. the people at the Y were certainly more friendly. these kids just seem barely there.
i also miss the pool at the Y. that and the sauna. no pool or sauna at the MAC.
